AWARDS
Distinguished Leadership Award
The recipient must have made a contribution professionally, educationally, or through charity to the Lucian community. They must have demonstrated strong leadership, and have brought about a positive change. A member of the Lucian Diaspora community must nominate them, and they have to live within the tri-state area. The recipient is accepted by a two-thirds vote of the independence ball committee.
Community Service Award
The recipient must have made an outstanding contribution to the Lucian community and has not received any compensation for their effort or time. A member of the community must nominate them, and they have to live in the tri-state area. A two-thirds vote is required to be accepted.
Distinguished Humanitarian Award
The nominee must have a record of giving and volunteerism, and have made a signification contribution to changing to the lives of a community or individuals through their efforts. They must be nominated by the community and have to live in the tri-state area. A two-thirds vote of the independence ball committee is required for them to be accepted.
Creative Artist Award
To win this award, the nominee must excel in their chosen art. The recipient must be nominated by a member of the community and accepted by two-thirds of the committee. The recipient must live in the tri-state area.
Sportsperson Team Award
An individual person or entire team may win this award. An individual must have shown leadership and skill in their chosen sport, and a team must have expressed team spirit and sportsmanship. Both must have shown a positive light in the community. They must be nominated by the community, live in the tri-state area, and be accepted by two-thirds of the committee.
Business Person Award
This award goes to the nominee who leads legitimate enterprises and provides outstanding service in their field. They do not need to just serve the Lucian community, but must be in good standing within the tri-state area. A two-thirds vote from the committee is required for acceptance.
ENTERTAINMENT
The year promises to be unlike any other. The entertainment for this event includes artists from Saint Lucia and New York based performers.
This elegant evening will incorporate a special 35 years tribute of Saint Lucia’s famous sounds from 1979 till 2013 all performed by Fimber, Junty, Gozilay, and Rootsy, backed up by the Inferno Band with music provided by the one and only Celebrity DJ Eryk.
This year, the entertainment at the Independence Ball will have you dancing, reminiscing, laughing, and wishing it will never end.
Speeches will be made by the Saint Lucian Ambassador and the Counselor General. A special presentation about the independence of Saint Lucia will be shown as well.
Cocktail hour and food will be catered and consist of fish, chicken, and vegertarian and other delicious choices that the elegant El Caribe is known for.
Once the speeches and the presentations are finished, there will be a lot of time for dancing.
Get an opportunity to see old friends, celebrate the 35 years, experience music from 1979 till now and enjoy the ambiance of the venue of a very expensive hall with great lighting.
At the end of the event, there will be a countdown to a spectacular climax.
